Ash Wednesday and Super Tuesday

Yesterday was Super Tuesday. For all those who are ignorant, it was the earliest day when caucuses can be held without penalties. This of course does not include the 4 states (one from each region) who are sceduled to take place before that. Because they wanted their states' caucus to be more important, some states decided to move their primary up to the earliest possible date. Of course this backfired because the candidates were not able to campaign in all of the 20ish states extensively.

The one good thing to come out of Super Tuesday is the fact that you can start to see the leading candidates of each party. Well, at least on the Republican side (kudos to Dad who stated way back before the Iowa primary that McCain would be the Republican candidate). Of course this is not set in stone, but it is probable the he will be running in November.

One thing I did think was extremely hillarious was how Huckabee won West Virginia. In WV, all the delegates go to one person, and it is a two tiered vote. After the first vote, the top three contestants (McCain, Romney, and Huckabee) were the only names left to vote for. Because all indications were that Romney would win (he had about 45% of the votes to McCain's 30ish%) McCain and Huckabee (15ish%) made a deal for all of his delegates to vote for Huckabee so that Romney would not gain momentum from an early win. All except 12 die hard McCain supporters voted for Huckabee and he beat Romney by about 2%. Ah... Politics. Coming from the words "poli" meaning many and "ticks" meaning blood sucking creatures.

Also remember that today is Ash Wednesday. Remember you are dust, and unto dust you shall return.

I realize that was long and kind of boring. Deal with it.

so are many of my posts. I couldn't eat meat today. We had pizza for lunch at school, and they didn't know we couldn't have meet (the catholics), so I had to tear the precious meat off along with most the cheese. That took away from the deliciousness.
